Flower mountain Yamano 3: Trendy Outdoor-Inspried Sneakers

Flower Mountain Yamano 3 Review: Unique Design and Comfort for Daily wear

Flower Mountain Sneaker featuring breathable mesh and suede details

The reason why I chose this item:

When I first saw this shoe shop on the main street in Kamakura, the unique designs and colorful variety of shoes immediately caught my eye. I initially thought it was just a small, local brand unique to Kamakura.

However, when I came across the same shop again in Tokyo, I looked it up on Google and discovered that it was actually a fairly well-known brand that had launched about 10 years ago. That’s when I started to take a closer and more careful look at their shoes.

We eventually bought our pair in Hakodate, when we saw the shop for the third time. At first, I thought the shoes were trendy and geared more towards younger people, but the more I looked at them, the more they grew on me. Luckily, my husband liked them too — and for the first time in the 10 years we've been together, we got matching couple shoes!

Our Yamano 3 review: - "Great looks and surprising comfort"

The combination of colors, along with the well-balanced use of suede and nylon, gives the shoes a stylish and elegant look. The cork sole adds a nice softness and cushioning.

Since they’re made with suede, it’s best to avoid wearing them on rainy days. Even though the nylon provides some ventilation, they’re also not ideal for mid-summer, especially when it is very hot and humid. And due to the nylon's lack of insulation, they’re not great for cold weather either. These shoes are best suited for spring and autumn.

As daily sneakers, they’re more comfortable, lighter, and more breathable than I expected.
My husband has flat, wide feet and usually gets tired after walking a lot, but with these shoes, he can walk comfortably for pretty long periods. He’s very satisfied with them.

Size tip:

Before purchasing, I tried on two other pairs. Compared to those, these shoes felt a bit large. I usually wear size 7, and sometimes 7.5, but in this case, size 7 was slightly big, and size 6.5 fit me perfectly. My husband is the same. His usual shoe size is 10, but he bought a 9.5 for these shoes. If you're planning to buy them online, I recommend going half a size down.

How to maintain these shoes:

I asked a staff member how to clean the shoes, and they said I could use any shoe cleaner. But I think it’s better to clean them depending on the material—suede or nylon. Make sure the cleaner is suitable for both materials when you get one.

For suede:
  • If it’s a water-based stain, lightly blot it with a dry cloth dampened with diluted pH-neutral detergent.
  • For oil-based stains, use a suede-specific cleaner.
  • Since suede is sensitive to water, avoid getting it wet.
For nylon:

Gently wipe it with a soft cloth soaked in warm water mixed with pH-neutral detergent.

Overall: -"Affordable and stylish sneakers"

These shoes are both comfortable and visually stylish. They go well with casual outfits, and the bright, bold colour combinations can really make your outfit pop. We paid 42,110 yen (excluding tax) for two pairs, and we think they were absolutely worth it.
