Why I Looked for a Sofa Bed
I usually prefer leather sofas because they’re easy to clean and less prone to stains or dirt. However, when choosing a sofa for our spare room, I went with a fabric sofa bed. The space in the room is quite limited, and I felt that fabric would fit better in a smaller area while also making the room feel warmer and cosier. Looking back, it was definitely the right choice.First Impressions of the Koala Sofa Bed
The Vanilla colour I chose looked exactly the same as on the website. It’s a soft ivory tone that brightens up the room and makes it feel more spacious. The design is minimal yet modern, which blends well with different interior styles.
The material is 100% polyester. At first, I was worried about a strong chemical smell or static electricity—especially since I’m prone to static even in summer. Fortunately, there was no noticeable smell, and I haven’t experienced any static issues so far.

Price and Value for Money
One of the reasons I went with Koala was the price. The sofa bed was already discounted by $400, and I managed to get an extra $100 off during Boxing Day. Considering the quality and versatility, I think it offers excellent value compared to other sofa beds in the same price range. Plus, the packaging included a cute little koala, which was a nice touch.
Delivery and Assembly Experience
Koala’s delivery service was very punctual. A few days before the scheduled date, I received an email with a tracking link, and on the delivery day, I got an SMS update. The sofa was delivered right to my doorstep.
Since my husband and I were home, we carried it inside together. However, it’s worth noting that if you live alone or can’t carry heavy items, this could be a challenge because the delivery team only drops it off at the door.
Assembly, on the other hand, was very straightforward. The sofa bed comes in flat-pack boxes and can be set up without any special tools. Within 20–30 minutes, we had it ready to use. (honestly, my husband did it all.. 😅)Comfort and Functionality
The sofa bed is easy to convert between sofa and bed modes. As a sofa, it’s supportive yet soft enough for everyday use. As a bed, it’s surprisingly comfortable for short-term stays—perfect for guests.
I’ve been using it for two months now, and so far, I haven’t experienced any sagging or issues. The cushions retain their shape well, and the fabric still looks brand new.Pros and Cons of the Koala Sofa Bed
Pros:
- Elegant Vanilla ivory colour that matches any room decor
- Made with durable polyester but without smell or static issues
- Excellent value with discounts and promotions
- Easy to assemble and convert between sofa/bed
- Functional and comfortable for both seating and sleeping
Cons:
- Delivery stops at the door, so you’ll need help carrying it inside
- Fabric is not as easy to wipe clean as leather (but cosier)
Final Thoughts: Is the Koala Sofa Bed Worth It?
Overall, I’m very satisfied with the Koala sofa bed. It’s stylish, functional, and comfortable—an ideal choice for small spaces or spare rooms. If you want a balance between aesthetic appeal, practicality, and affordability, the Koala sofa bed is definitely worth considering.
As of September 2025, I checked the Koala website and saw that the 4th Gen has been released. I purchased mine around Christmas 2024, so I believe I have the 3rd Gen sofa, not the 4th. - [The details of the product]
